I JUST CAME TO SAY GOODBYE

Based on anonymous apologies and real stories of forgiveness submitted by your friends and frenemies, Brisbane’s own The Good Room bring you this brand new work – a glitter-fuelled finale event for the wronged and the righteous. Bridges will be burned. Hatchets might be buried. Nobody escapes unscathed.

A wildly theatrical and intimately honest testimony, I JUST CAME TO SAY GOODBYE crashes head-first into the foggy terrain of forgiveness to share hundreds of stories of guilt, grudges, remorse, and revenge.

Witness this world premiere from the team that brought you I Want To Know What Love Is (2014) and I Should Have Drunk More Champagne (2013).

12 – 23 SEPTEMBER 2017, THEATRE REPUBLIC, BRISBANE FESTIVAL

“What [The Good Room] do is throw everything onto the floor – a vast collection of ideas and feelings and responses to real events and crowdsourced verbatim material – pour fuel over it, and set it on fire to create a spectacular event and food for thought, for a life outside the theatre that demands our burning presence.”
XS ENTERTAINMENT

“A potent, considered, and finely crafted work which reminds us how hard it is – and how important – to say sorry…Instead of betraying the secrets they have been entrusted with, I Just Came So Say Goodbye honours them in a finely tuned and fascinating work of theatre. 4 stars.”
ARTSHUB

“Fast and furious with an apocalyptic sensibility…tender in heartfelt vulnerability…visually quite stunning.”
BLUE CURTAINS BRISBANE

“A theatrical blitzkrieg…”
CAMERON PEGG, THE AUSTRALIAN
